What Is Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M)?
Alpha-2-Macroglobulin is a large plasma glycoprotein that functions as the body's primary broad-spectrum protease inhibitor, a molecular trap that captures and permanently inactivates the destructive enzymes responsible for cartilage breakdown and tissue degeneration in arthritic joints and chronically damaged tendons.
A2M works through a unique mechanical capture mechanism: the protein forms a cage-like structure around the target protease, inactivating it irreversibly. A single A2M molecule can capture multiple protease molecules. The A2M used in injection therapy is concentrated from the patient's own blood, with negligible immune reaction risk.
