What It Is

Trigger point injections are a pain management treatment that involves injecting a local anesthetic (1% lidocaine or marcaine & 99% saline) into a trigger point or “knot” to relax stressed muscles and relieve pain. A trigger point is a tender area of muscle that develops when the myofascial tissue surrounding the muscle contracts and sticks to itself. We also use the injection as a mechanical tool as well to help break up scar tissue like how we use dry-needling.
